Welcome to this exciting time in your life as you consider becoming a new college student.  Choosing a college is a huge decision and we are delighted that you are considering American River College (ARC).

Our tour guides will show you around our beautiful 153-acre campus while sharing our wide variety of Academic Programs, Support Services, and the opportunities ARC has to offer.

Below you will see that ARC offers different types of tours.

Types of Tours

Prospective Student Tour

Engage in our in-depth, interactive walking tour for Prospective Students and their families who are considering American River College.

We receive an extremely high volume of requests on a daily basis and do our very best to return correspondence as quickly as possible.

Summer 2019 Tours: June 13 - August 2 
Fall 2019 Tours: September 3 - December 10
Spring 2020 Tours: January 29 - May 12

Days Times
Mondays 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Wednesdays 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Thursdays 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Fridays 9:30 a.m.

Participants: It is possible that you will be the only participant(s) on the tour or you may be joined with other prospective students touring the campus. These tours have no more than 10 total registrants. 

Tour Time: Approximately 1 hour.

  • Our tours start promptly as we may have multiple tours scheduled.

Parking:

  • The required Daily Permits are $2 and are dispensed from machines located in student lots.
  • Participants are encouraged to park in Lot D.
  • Note: Parking can prove challenging, so please plan ahead and allow sufficient time to park.

Group Tours for High Schools and Educational Programs

This comprehensive, fun, and engaging walking tour is designed for High Schools and Educational Programs that are interested in American River College.

We receive an extremely high volume of requests on a daily basis and do our very best to return correspondence as quickly as possible.

Summer 2019 Tours: June 13 - August 2 
Fall 2019 Tours: September 3 - December 10
Spring 2020 Tours: January 29 - May 12

  • Group Tours are based on availability and are scheduled in the order the request is received. To request a Group Tour please click the button below and fill out the Request Form

Participants: Student capacity of 6-30 plus one (1) chaperone for every ten (10) students.

Tour Time: Approximately 1 ½ hours.

  • Our tours start promptly as we may have multiple tours scheduled.
  • If you are 10 minutes late, your tour may be shortened in order to finish within the pre-arranged time allotted.
  • If you are more than 20 minutes late, your tour will be canceled.​

Parking:

Bus:

  • Drop-off students and chaperones in parking Lot D.
  • Bus wait in south end of the Stadium Parking Lot off College Oak Drive.

Multiple Vehicles:

  • The required Daily Permits are $2 and are dispensed from machines located in student lots.
  • Participants park in Lot D.
  • Note: Parking can prove challenging, so please plan ahead and allow sufficient time to park.

Group Tours for Middle Schools (Grades 6th – 8th)

Introducing the college experience at a young age is a wonderful idea. This comprehensive, fun, and engaging walking tour is designed to get these students excited about college by nurturing their interests and encouraging them to imagine their future.

ARC is excited to offer tours to this age group, but priority is given to high school and above ages. We receive an extremely high volume of requests on a daily basis and do our very best to return correspondence as quickly as possible.

Spring 2020 Tours: January 29 - May 12

Self-Guided Tour

Sometimes schedules do not align and touring during a pre-scheduled time may not be possible. As we are an open campus, individual prospective students (and their families) are welcome to visit and explore. Let us know in advance when you are arriving and come by the Welcome Desk (in the Welcome and Support Center), we will have an information packet and tour map prepared for you.

Tour Rules and FAQ's

College Tour Rules

We are here to serve you, and we ask for your assistance to ensure that your students have a positive experience consistent with ARC’s collegiate learning environment.

  • Students must stay with their respective tour or presentation group at all times and may not be in any other areas of the campus without prior authorization and adult supervision.
  • All schools, organizations and agencies bringing student groups to the ARC campus for a tour must provide school staff and/or adult chaperones
    • Minimum of 1 adult per 10 students.
  • Chaperones and/or school representatives must be present with their students at all times while visiting our campus. We expect chaperones to supervise their students, maintain order and handle any disciplinary issues that may arise.
  • You are welcome to ARC’s campus, a place of mutual respect among students, staff and visitors. In keeping with the college’s values, we ask that all visitors commit to respectful attention to campus tour guides and all others on campus.
  • All visitors must observe quiet zones.
  • American River College is a smoke-, tobacco- and vapor-free learning and work environment.
  • Cell phones or any other electronic devices should be turned off during the campus visit.

Tour FAQs

Q: Do you offer tours on weekends?

        A: No, we do not offer weekend tours.

Q: Is a reservation required?

A: Yes, except for a Self-Guided Tour.

Q: How early should I arrive?

A: We recommend getting to campus 15 minutes before your confirmed tour time to allow time for parking and getting to the Welcome and Support Center. Our tours start promptly as we may have multiple tours scheduled.

Q: Is a tour given if it is raining?

A: Yes. Tours will happen rain or shine. ARC does reserve the right to cancel a tour due to extreme weather. Please notify us if you need to cancel/reschedule your tour due to weather. Please remember to bring an Umbrella if needed.
