Basic Law Enforcement Academy

(Tuesday through Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some Sundays)

Area residents interested in becoming a law enforcement officer or investigator, or working in the criminal justice field, are invited to test for admission to the Basic Law Enforcement Academy which begins in January 2012.   The Academy is offered by the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center and administered by American River College. Currently taking applications for January 2010, applications can be mailed, emailed, or faxed.

2012 Academy Application

Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid CA driver license, have a medical clearance, and Department of Justice fingerprint clearance letter.

The top 50 applicants who pass the selection process will be placed on an eligibility list and invited to the next academy class. Graduates receive 12 semester units of credit from American River College. The Academy is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Classes meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some Sundays.
