High school science students are invited to enter the Teen Biotech Challenge, in which they can demonstrate their understanding of how biotechnology impacts their lives, and the importance of biotechnology in the future. Participants must complete a research project on a selected topic within the scope of biotechnology. These topics emphasize the uses of biotechnology in a variety of applications, including agriculture and farming, biomedical research, forensics, textiles, genetic engineering, nutritional-genomics and bio-energy. Student participants will use their research to design a Web page that illustrates and discusses major aspects of biotechnology with their chosen area of focus. Winners will be chosen within each topic area and awarded cash and prizes. The competition winners will be invited to participate at the Biotech Symposium to showcase their Web pages to local college faculty, corporate sponsors and the community. The winning individual Web pages will be compiled to create an internet-based resource for science teachers and students.
