I have been teaching full-time at American River College since Fall 2003. Prior to my employment at ARC, I was a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at CSU-Chico between Fall 1999-Spring 2003. I completed my undergraduate degree in developmental psychology in 1994 at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil (country of origin). Soon after, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to attend graduate school at the University of Utah. I completed my master's degree in developmental psychology in Fall 1997 and my Ph.D. degree in developmental psychology in Spring 2000.

In addition to teaching at ARC, I am involved in the ARC Reading Apprenticeship Project, which involves providing training to faculty and staff on campus on the reading apprenticeship framework. l also maintain a research program that examines change processes in mother-infant relationships, focusing on the study of positive emotions over the course of the first seven months of the infant's life. For more information on my academic history, see my Curriculum Vitae here.

At a more personal note, I enjoy cooking, going to the gym, hosting parties, volunteering at my son's school, camping, traveling abroad, and hanging out with my husband, my almost 9 year-old son Aidan, and my 11 year-old canine daughter Daisy.
