HOW DO I CHECK OUT LIBRARY MATERIAL?

Checking out books and videos from the library is easy. Your Student Access Card serves as your library card and is required for checking out material. Take the items you wish to check out to the Circulation Desk and provide your Access Card to the library staff. The chart below indicates how long your can keep the library material.

LATE FEES

There are no grace periods for overdue items; overdue fees begin immediately.  Overdue fees must be cleared before one may check out library material, order transcripts, or register for classes.

Late fees may be paid in person at any Los Rios library with cash or check. We do not accept credit cards.  

If you are unable to appear in person, call the Circulation Desk (916-484-8455) to make arrangements.

Include your name, student ID number, and either a phone number or email address.

 


 

RENEWALS

Circulating books and videos/audio recordings may be renewed once unless a hold has been placed on the item.

In-house reserve items must be returned for two hours before the item can be checked out again.

Reserve items with longer loan periods must be returned for 24 hours before the item can be checked out again.

Circulating magazines cannot be renewed.

Online renewals:
To view your library record, go to the Library Catalog and select My Record. This feature allows you to view checkouts, due dates, holds, and to renew items.

 


 

LOST/DAMAGED BOOKS AND VIDEOS

Lost items will be charged at their current price plus a $10 non-refundable processsing fee. A student may opt to purchase the replacement copy on their own and pay only the processing fee. Replacement copies purchased by the student must be the exact edition and format as the lost item.

Lost magazines will be charged late fees up to $5.00 (at $.50 per day) plus a $5.00 replacement fee.

Items returned in damaged and/or unusable condition will be charged as a lost item.

 


 

BOOK RETURNS

Books may be returned to any Los Rios college library. Exception: reserve items must be returned to the library at which they were checked out.

The ARC Library has a book return at the Circulation Desk. An after hours book return is located near the front door of library.

 


 

REQUESTS

Requesting Material from other Los Rios Campuses

Circulating material from any of the Los Rios District libraries may be requested for delivery to any library in the district. Requested items may be picked up and dropped off at any Los Rios library.  Delivery takes 2-3 business days.  See instructions below.


To request a book, follow these steps:

  1. Find the item in the Library Catalog.
  2. Click on the Request button located near the top of the page.
  3. Login using your username and password.
    1. Choose pickup location.
    2. Click Submit button; confirm selection on next screen.
    3. The Circulation Desk will contact you by email when the item is ready for pickup.
