The Health Center offers immunizations to current ARC students, faculty and staff. We provide immunizations for Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) and Hepatitis B. During the Fall & Spring Semesters, these are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30-11:45 a.m. and 1:00-3:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis. Immunizations are otherwise available by appointment only.
The procedure is relatively simple. If you request an immunization, you will be given an informational flyer (VIS) about that particular immunization. You will be asked to read the flyer and answer a few basic health questions. If there are no problems or contraindications, the immunization will be administered. If you have experienced a severe reaction to an immunization in the past or are pregnant, we will be unable to immunize you and you will be referred to another health care facility. The fee scale for immunizations at the Health Center is listed below.
TETANUS: $30.00
Most people receiving Tetanus shots come in needing only one injection, the infamous “booster” shot. Once given, it is usually good for 10 years.
MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (MMR): $55.00 per injection
One MMR may be given to an individual who did not receive the recommended two immunizations as a child. There may be situations where an individual needs to get two injections, one month apart.
An MMR is a live virus vaccine. It may be given at the same time as other vaccines and/or a TB test. If not given simultaneously, however, you must wait one month after receiving an MMR before getting a TB test or another live virus vaccine.
HEPATITIS B: $40.00 per injection
The Hepatitis B series consists of three injections: the initial injection, a second injection one month later, and a third injection four to six months after the first injection. All three doses are needed for full and lasting immunity. An incomplete series does not require starting over, but may be continued from where it was left off.
VARICELLA: N/A
Varicella vaccines are not available at ARC, so we will refer you to your own medical provider if you need this vaccine. If you do not have a provider, we will refer you to a County Clinic or other providers.
BLOOD TITERS:
Immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, or Varicella may be verified with a blood titer. You may have this done through your own medical provider, or we can refer you to a lab near ARC. Prices for titers from this lab are measles $14, mumps $14, Rubella $4, Hepatitis B $5, Varicella $10. There is also a $5 administrative/draw fee. A titer cannot be done for tetanus. A titer is recommended for anyone who has received immunizations, but cannot obtain records.
