How to register

Instructors

The ESL lab is designed to be flexible for you.

There are four courses available: ESL 34, ESL 44, ESL 54 and ESL 94.

You may register for up to 1.5 units at each course level.  This means that over different semesters you may take up to 6 units at the ESL Center.

You can register between .5 unit and 1.5 units for each course level.

Each .5 unit should take between 18 - 27 hours of work in the ESL Center.

You can come to the ESL Center at ANY TIME that it is open.  It doesn't matter which course you register for.

You can come to the ESL Center before your other classes, after your other classes, in between your other classes, before or after work, when you have some free time....  You can come to the ESL Center at any time.

How do you know which course you can register for?

Register in ESL 34:

If you have passed any ESL 20 (W20, R20 or L20) or higher course,  or you were placed higher than level 20 on your assessment test.

Register in ESL 44:

If you have passed any ESL 30 (W30, R30 or L30) or higher course, or you were placed higher than level 30 on your assessment test.

Register in ESL 54:

If you have passed any ESL 40 (W40, R40 or L40) or higher course, or you were placed higher than level 40 on your assessment test.

Register in ESL 94:

If you have passed any ESL 50 (W50, R50, L30 or G50) or higher course, or you were placed higher than level 50 on your assessment test.

Do you have to register for ESL Center courses at the beginning of the semester?

No.  You can register up to week 10, but you will need to come to the ESL Center to register.  We strongly recommend registering (and attending) the ESL Center courses during the beginning of the semester.  (Don't wait!)
