Take Advantage of the Career Center's Resources

 

The Career Center at American River College offers an outstanding array of free resources to assist you in planning for college, choosing career options, and researching current job openings.

CAREER WORKSHOPS:

Attend career workshops each month on resume development/cover letters, interview techniques - and other work and career related topics. During the fall and spring semesters we hold two Career Counseling workshops a month. Workshops are free.

CAREER ASSESSMENTS:

Easy-to-use questionnaire inventories that assess occupational interests using Internet and/or software programs.

Access the latest information about careers, occupations, and job trends.

Jung Typology Test:   This test is based on Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers typological approach to personality. Please bring your results to the Career Center and pick up printed information based on your personality profile.

Eureka: Includes three assessments -True Colors, MicroSkills, & Occ-U-Sort. In addition to these assessments, Eureka also is a computer library with over 800 job descriptions, programs of study, state and national schools and financial aid information. Contact the Career Center for the site ID code to set up a new account. Main line: (916) 484-8492.

Elevations: An integrated assessment system where you can discover your unique skills, values, and career options- and assists in making satisfying career decisions. On the Elevations webpage, in the upper right hand corner, click "Purchase Elevations Here". Scroll down to "Elevations for Students" ($15.00) and add to cart. Testing instructions will follow payment.

RESUME CRITIQUING:

Available by appointment only.


CAREER EVENTS:

Each semester a variety of events are sponsored through the Career Center. The events offer information related to specific careers, majors, and employment trends. Faculty and community and business organizations from the Sacramento region are invited to share valuable information to assist students with employment and career opportunities.


CAREER COUNSELING:

Career Counseling is available to currently enrolled ARC students who need assistance choosing a major and making informed decisions about their future careers. If you are frustrated trying to decide on a career, career counseling can provide guidance and support as you explore, learn about yourself, and take action. Call (916) 484-8492 for an appointment.


JOB SEARCH SERVICES:

Students l Alumni l Employers

The new Los Rios Internships & Career Services (LINCS) system is an online service where students and alumni can upload resumes and search for a variety of jobs. Employers can post jobs and review resumes. For questions about using the system; contact the Career Center office.

Internet addresses,  Telephone Job Lines and Staffing/Temp Agencies are also available for job searches.


CAREER FAIR:

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

Located in the Career Center. Open to all students. Students can earn up to 4 units while gaining work experience in their field.

CAREER CENTER:
