Required & Recommend Materials:
1.  REQUIRED ONLINE ACCESS CODE: You must purchase access to online course material in one of the following two ways:

Option 1:   Buy the package: Textbook + WileyPlus Access Code

Printed Text:  Tintle, Chance, Cobb, Rossman, Roy, Swanson, Vanderstoep  Introduction to Statistical Investigations Statistics, Wiley 2016.

Option 2:  Buy the WileyPlus Access Code with valid credit card The access code includes access to an electronic copy of the textbook.

NOTE:  All students will have access to a 14 day free trial of WileyPlus.

2.  REQUIRED STATISTICAL ANALYSIS TECHNOLOGY:  StatCrunch (Online web access purchase)

My philosophy for this course is to teach you the concepts and mechanics behind the probability and statistical formulas. However, once you understand what the formula does and what it is used for, my course relies on statistical technology to speed up the computation process by letting StatCrunch do the 'nitty-gritty' number crunching.  You can purchase a 6-month license to use StatCrunch for $14 from the website

3.  REQURIED:   Scientific Calculator

You will want to have a calculator by your side to do basic arithmetic calculations this semester.  Cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other devices will not be permitted during the proctored exams.  You will not need a graphing calculator, although you may choose to use a graphing calculator. It is OPTIONAL to purchase a TI-84 graphing calculator.   If you just want a scientific calculator, I recommend: TI-30XS.

4.   RECOMMENDED: Laptop / Tablet / Smartphone with Internet Access

This course will rely on using free apps and websites to carry out statistical investigations.  To access these websites, you will need a device (laptop, tablet, or most smart phones) with internet access and an updated browser.  We will regularly use these apps & websites during class.  If you have a laptop or tablet, bring it with you to class.  You are not required to purchase a laptop or tablet for this class.  You will be provided access to some of these websites during testing or examination periods.

5.   REQUIRED: Websites and Applets

You will need to access these websites and apps on a regular basis. You may wish to bookmark them for future use.

Internet Browsers:       You must have regular access to an up-to-date browser, preferably Firefox or Google Chrome.  This course will require cookies and JavaScript Technology.  Both of these features must be turned on in your browser, and are usually turned on by default.  See your browser Help for instructions on how to view or change these settings.
