I have been teaching at American River College since 1989. Prior to that I spent 3+ years doing market research in television advertising and long-term care. I received my Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Notre Dame in 1985, and my B.A. from Brigham Young University in 1978. My first college experience was in 1973 at American River College where at the age of 17, I took the Introductory Psychology course from Bud Gallacher. From that point on, I knew that I wanted to make a career in psychology.

In addition to psychology, I have a major interest in world travel and the exploration of other cultures. I have spent considerable time in Japan and England but have also visited 30 other countries, primarily in Europe. Some of my travel experiences have come through the study abroad program associated with the Los Rios Community College District. I encourage anyone interested in a great cross-cultural college experience to check it out. In particular, I run a summer program in London and would love for you to join me this summer.
