I currently teach for two departments at American River College: Gerontology and Kinesiology & Athletics. For the past twenty-five years I have been certified as an older adult fitness professional and for 12 years was the Fitness and Wellness Program Director at a large continuing care retirement community. My community Older adult exercise classes were suspended in July of 2010 due to budget cuts at CSUS and then due to my mother's pancreatic cancer illness.

I received my Masters in Exercise Physiology with emphasis in aging from California State University, Sacramento and have held certifications as a personal trainer, water aerobics instructor, group exercise leader, and long term care exercise leader.

I have provided health education lectures regarding older adult concerns for the government, teaching institutions and private agencies. In addition to teaching Gero 335: "Wellness For Older Adults" online, it has been presented in the classroom at American River College until online learning became so popular.

I have also taught Exercise Physiology and presently teach Kinesiology 405: Special Populations in the Fitness Specialist Certificate Program for the Kinesiology & Athletics Department at American River College.

My personal interests are my loving husband, my children and grandchildren, playing my violin, gardening and working out. Even though I list working out as last it is how I start my day as I believe that you must make the time to take care of yourself if you are going to help others improve the quality of their lives.

My mother passed peacefully in January of 2011 largely due to the loving care afforded to her by her loving extended family and Hospice. Our cocker Rusty passed away in July of 2010 at the age of 19 years 4 months.
