Additional Info:

Here you will find an introduction to the courses I am teaching this semester at American River College. I am so glad that you are considering taking a math class. I enjoy helping students build a strong foundation in math so that they can be successful in my class and also in future courses. This is an exciting and challenging time here at ARC, and in many of my courses students experience the "Brave New World" of web-based enhancements such as online homework and quizzes through MyMathlab or Webassign. I look forward to having you in my class and helping you achieve your educational goals.

Teaching Experience

I've been teaching for more than 20 years, and have taught most of the of math courses, from Algebra to Calculus, Linear Algebra and differential equations. I teach in a way that encourages you to think and reason rather than just mimic what I do. I also enjoy helping students build a strong foundation in mathematics to build on and be successful both in college and in other aspects of life. I have taught at Sacramento State, University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas, and several community colleges. I also enjoy coaching and helping students  that participate in the student math league that is put on by AMATYC each year. It is fun to help students through challenging problems that often require a non-traditional approach or solution. Click on the AMATYC page and check it out. Each semester it's a new experience with new students and new challenges.
