Invest in Student Success
At American River College, our students are the center of everything we do. Our mission statement reflects our commitment to changing lives. Because of our open admissions policy, we are the first chance for some, a second chance for many, and for others perhaps the only chance to reach their educational goals--at a fraction of the cost of other colleges and universities.
Our Students
- American River College is the largest community college in the greater Sacramento area with nearly 40,000 students.
- For many students, the possibility of a better life begins with entry into a community college. Full-time students have an annual median income of $16,223, with one-fourth having incomes of less than $5,544 per year. More than 60% of community college students are people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, and approximately 55% are female.
Our College
With the great value that community colleges offer, an investment in us is probably one of the best investments in our region. A community college education is the most affordable educational opportunity. However, state funding is unable to meet our rapidly expanding student community and the foundation must look to private support to help bridge the gap. When you donate to support American River College you are making an investment in the long-term economic, cultural and intellectual vitality of our community. It is vital that ARC secure the necessary resources to continue offering quality programs and training.
Our Community
Everyone benefits from the success of ARC students.
- The work force of a robust economy includes a mixture of professionals, paraprofessionals, trained workers and general labor. American River College is integral to the formation of an educated work force - both as an entry point to the job market and as a launching pad for students to pursue 4-year degrees and professions.
- Rising costs and quickly changing technology challenge ARC's ability to keep programs and instructional equipment up to date.
- As the community and ARC's enrollment grows, so does the need for classrooms, office space, and dedicated, well-trained faculty and staff that make ARC the quality educational institution it is today.
- 98% of the fastest growing jobs in the U.S. require some post-secondary education or training.
"We want to create opportunities for students who are motivated to achieve their goals."
