It is with great pleasure American River College (ARC) proudly presents our cohorts of military veterans that have graduated from a rigorous 8-week pre-apprenticeship training program with us. Our partner, Sacramento Employment Training Agency (SETA) screened the applicants using criteria developed by our employer partners:
- Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E)
- Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD)
- Roseville Electric
Additionally, applicants had to pass multiple exams related to math and reading comprehension, pass drug and background checks, and present themselves well to an interview panel. The training included knowledge about the utility industry, power generation and distribution processes, and principles of electricity. It also included courses in math and physical fitness. They earned multiple certificates such as OSHA-10 and CPR/AED. Our employer partners have provided additional training in pole climbing and substation work where they earned certificates. We hope you will give these graduates serious consideration for employment.
They have everything you need in a great employee; discipline, positive attitude, strong work ethic, transferable skills from the military, additional pre-apprenticeship training, physical strength and fitness, and a desire to work in your industry. Employers that have hired previous cohorts of students from our training are very happy with them and some even tell us they are their best employees!
Every class generates a "Hire a Vet" booklet with basic information about our graduates.
