Law Enforcement Programs

The Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC), operated by American River College, offers an instructional program that supports the students need for entry-level training. The SRPSTC offers basic courses oriented toward meeting specific entry-level training needs for criminal justice and state regulatory agencies.

All courses meet the academic standards of the Los Rios Community College District, American River College and the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center. These courses are certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and/or California Commission on Standards and Training for Corrections (STC). Most courses presented by the SRPSTC are in an intensive short-term format. Graduates from these programs may be eligible for employment in municipal, county or state law enforcement agencies specializing in law enforcement, corrections, and probation.

For additional information:

Students are required to pay the established community college registration and material fee.

Basic Entry-Level Courses

Technical training courses are geared primarily for the law enforcement, corrections and probation professional seeking technical knowledge, skills and abilities mandated by POST or STC. Technical courses, which include manipulative skills development, may require proficiency skill testing of the student before and/or after the course of instruction.

Note that some courses may be restricted by California statute or academic prerequisite.
