Professional Development Program

The STEM Center Professional Development Program pairs motivated students with Los Rios faculty mentors. Students and mentors work together to advance the students' career and academic goals. At the start of Spring Semester, students and faculty mentors will design a contract to set objectives and expectations. Participants then complete six activities that encompass academic growth in their chosen field, career development, public service, and personal enrichment designed to enhance professional skills.

Who is eligible?

Eligible students are any current members of the STEM Center and MESA communities at one of the three Los Rios campuses, including MESA Associates or ASEM students. Eligible students must have submitted a complete MESA application or re-enrollment and all appropriate documentation as verified by their STEM Center or MESA Director.

Is there financial support?

To defray potential expenses, the program provides participants with a $400 stipend for the Spring Semester. Students will receive an initial amount of $200 upon accepting the MESA Professional Development Program offer. The remaining $200 will be distributed at the end of the semester, once mentors and students have agreed that their goals have been met.
